Our story

For thirty years, we've helped organisations navigate change, embrace bold ideas, and transform challenges into opportunities. We've learned a great deal, grown and partnered with leaders to shape a future where ambition meets impact.

1996

Niels Ahrengot, Jens Vasehus, and Mads Barslund founded Implement on the dream of helping organisations succeed with their most important change initiatives. The vision was, and is, simple: turn plans and ambitions into reality, and move things forward.

1999

Our first project beyond Danish borders took us into cross-border strategy execution for a Nordic financial company – the start of an increasingly international outlook.
2000

Implement was acquired by Swedish IT start-up Adcore to create a combined global, digital consultancy. Bought back again in 2001 to be fully employee owned.
2001

We won first prize at the Danish Consulting Award, recognised for a Lean project's innovative approach and lasting client impact.

Implement hits 50 employees!

One key pillar of our culture is the constant desire to become better at what we do – and to help others do the same. That's why we founded Implement Learning Institute to support this through training and developing project managers and employees across the private and public sectors.

2005

Curiosity has always been – and will always be – key to how we do things at Implement. That's why we launched our first all-employee University offsites, designed to satisfy our collective thirst for knowledge and bring us closer as one team.

Thought Leaders is our event series where we invite leading business thinkers to inspire and provoke us on our core competence: change. It began as an internal Implement event, and in 2009 we branched out, inviting our wider community to be part of it too.

Thought Leaders 2009 - Leading change in tough conditions

Award-winning thought leader John Kotter showed how to turn crisis into opportunity, drawing on his bestseller A Sense of Urgency to lead change when conditions get toughest.

2010

Thought Leaders 2010 - The upside of turbulence

Is there an upside to turbulence? Donald Sull, a global expert on strategy execution, showed how volatility can create an environment where organisations thrive even better.

2011

Thought Leaders 2011 - The execution trap

Roger Martin, who coined the term ‘execution trap,’ revealed how the cascade model helps leadership avoid great ideas failing at the execution stage.

2012

Implement's Danish HQ moved to the original Tuborg brewery building in Hellerup, erected in 1913 by industrialists C.F. Tietgen and Philip Heymann. Carved into stone at the entrance is the brewery's maxim: to stand still is to fall behind. A fitting maxim for Implement's journey.

Implement and MarkUp Consulting in Oslo join forces, laying the foundation for a Scandinavian-wide consultancy.

Thought Leaders 2013 - Moonshots for management 2.0

How do we bring management into the 21st century? Once again, Gary Hamel, one of the world's most sought-after management speakers, joined us. This time to make the case for ‘management 2.0’ – a fundamental mindset shift for tomorrow's business world.

2014

With the Danish Industry Foundation and Aarhus University, we co-developed Half Double, a hybrid project management approach and now a defining feature of how we work, focused on delivering double the impact in half the time through impact, flow, and leadership.

Thought Leaders 2014 - Thriving on disruption

Clayton Christensen, the architect of disruptive innovation, challenged traditional views on strategy and innovation, and how we measure success in a world built for disruption.

2015

On 27 April 2015, a fire spread from a nearby construction site to our Copenhagen office on Strandvejen. Luckily, no one was hurt. During the 18-month rebuild, the Danish office relocated – to right next door.

Thought Leaders 2015 - Moonshots for change

How can organisations become more human-oriented to drive change? Daniel H. Pink and Roger Martin explored the answer through so-called moonshots for change – radical, ambitious leaps rather than incremental steps.
