09:00 - 18:00 (CEST)Between 2021 and 2024, we are supporting a National Contact Point in strengthening the energy sector’s capacity to succeed with the EU Innovation Fund (EUIF). This includes viability assessments of candidate projects, feedback on innovation readiness and competitiveness, and one-to-one mentoring for top contenders. We also deliver the annual EUIF Academy to share in-depth knowledge and provide expert insights. In addition, we support the NCP with perspectives on key challenges to foster broader understanding of the programme. The project helps maximise the success rate of strong applicants, ensures resources are focused on top candidates, and supports informed decision-making across the sector.

Implement Consulting Group supported a leading European cement manufacturer in securing over €200 million in funding from the European Innovation Fund. The project aims to transform cement production in Northern Europe through advanced post-combustion carbon capture technology, aligned with EU climate policies and the company’s net-zero roadmap. Implement assisted in maturing the project and managing the application process. The funding enables a final investment decision and supports the production of ultra-low carbon cement, cutting more than 1.5 million tons of CO₂ annually. The plant will serve the growing sustainable building materials market, supply excess heat to a nearby district heating system, and help unlock national onshore CO₂ storage by acting as an anchor buyer

A global cement manufacturer aims to achieve carbon-neutral operations at two plants in Germany and Spain by 2030 through the use of innovative carbon capture and storage (CCS) technologies. To advance these projects within an immature CCS ecosystem, and due to high investment and operational costs, external funding from the EU Innovation Fund (EUIF) was essential. Implement Consulting Group supported the client in developing and submitting two applications for the 3rd EUIF large-scale call, with a combined funding volume of over €250 million. Our support included feasibility studies, emissions savings calculations, scalability assessments, project delivery planning, and financial modelling to demonstrate viability with EUIF funding.

The client, a Norwegian green ammonia producer, engaged Implement to assess funding opportunities through the EU Innovation Fund and hydrogen auction scheme. Based on project maturity, cost-competitiveness, and potential cumulation restrictions, the focus shifted to the auction. Implement supported the client in developing the application, preparing supporting documentation, and shaping a competitive bidding strategy. Our economists and analysts navigated uncertainties related to non-cumulation rules and completion guarantees. The project was selected among seven winners, securing over €80 million in funding and moving closer to final investment decision. Procurement and hedging strategies were refined to strengthen the project’s maturity and credibility.

Over the last 3 years we have secured over 1 billion euro of funding through various public funcing programmes
