Purpose of the course
To build up knowledge and awareness about the topic of Disaster Recovery Planning towards having a Disaster Recovery Plan.
To increase the knowledge of the importance about DRP as well as equipping the participants to engage in dialogs and discussions when they are having the talks back home in their organizations.
To impart an understanding of the words and terms used in the Disaster Recovery world. Highlighting the importance of having a Disaster Recovery Plan (DRP) to support the Business Continuity Plan (BCP).
Touching upon the usability of the DRP to address business processes and dependencies in a structured way.
To impart an understanding of the need to run exercises and drills on the DRP, as well as the same for the underlaying TRPs (Technical Recovery Plans).
Learn why the exercise reports are important to ensure that potential gaps are being addressed to ensure improvements.
To provide the participants with the best foundation to increase the organization to survive a disastrous situation and get back on their feet.
What you will get from participating in this course
- Part 1 - Understanding of terminology: Participants learn to understand vocabulary, and terms of DRP, and how DRP is being used in a business context. This includes where it is anchored in the organization, what triggers when to use it, and who uses it.
- Part 2 - Implementing DRP: Participants are equipped with the knowledge to understand how to develop a DRP, what content goes into the DRP, what challenges many organizations face, the benefits of the DRP, as well as how to ensure the usage of the DRP.
- Part 3 - Implementing DRP with exercises: Participants are introduced to the method of running drills and exercises on the DRPs and TRPs. This include learning how to plan and structure an exercise, as well as run it, as well as writing the DRP/TRP exercise report.
