Challenge

A software developer providing IT solutions for private and public companies in various industries needed to optimise their end-to-end business processes and upgrade their existing ERP system, which required a reconfiguration of the support systems, business processes and performance management model to ensure that the company would be fit for efficient and effective interaction of future acquisitions.

Approach

Implement assisted with optimising end-to-end business processes, including idea-to-market, market-to order, order-to-cash, record-to-report and procure-to-pay. Furthermore, Implement was part of defining the future software operating model and performance management model. The design of the new operating model was used as design criteria in the ERP software selection process.

Impact

The main impact arose from a clever design of a new software operating model. Additionally, the project created impact via the following:

  • A mapping of business units to software operating model archetypes highlighted differences across the company and facilitated a dialogue about how to align the future operating model with the corporate strategy.

  • A review of business processes ensured that potential improvement areas were highlighted, whilst requirements for the new ERP system were clarified.

  • Global process ownership was assigned, ensuring continuous improvement on key processes end to end.

  • Business simplification on key commercial upstream processes was identified and comprised of key elements for order-to-cash efficiencies and effectiveness.
