CapEx projects – The agile way

On Point: Free bite-sized webinars

8 June

How can you improve the performance of your capital expenditure projects?

Typically, engineering heavy CapEx projects require the most skilled project managers. Unfortunately, organisations often experience problems such as delayed delivery, budget overruns, dissatisfied customers and demotivated project team members with these types of projects.

Faced with a similar situation, software development pioneers reformulated the agile manifesto and inspired rethinking of traditions. But although agile project methodologies have been effective in software development, they have proven difficult to apply to CapEx projects that deliver physical products.

Many CapEx organisations tend to just continue with their old ways of managing projects because going agile seems too difficult, either because the software version of agile does not fit or because agile is sold as an “all or nothing” transformation methodology. We believe the solution is a hybrid where traditional CapEx project management is infused with agile ways of working tailored to the individual purpose, context and engineers.

Aspired learning impact

This short session will give you:

  • Inspiration on how to get started with making your CapEx projects more agile by focusing on three simple elements.
  • 10 concrete improvement levers you can apply to increase agility.
  • Insights into what benefits and challenges you might experience – learnings from a concrete case example in a global pharmaceutical company executed during the pandemic.

When using the learnings, you will be able to:

  • Communicate how to go agile in CapEx projects to the rest of your organisation.
  • Test the 10 levers in your CapEx project.

  • We will use Zoom* for the session. Please make sure the Zoom application is installed and running on your computer at least 10 min. before start
