The project: Defining the future end-to-end supply chain setup to cater for the future differentiated customer supply chain requirements

The background of the project was the merger of two companies into one international multi-service provider. The multi-service provider offers garments, flat linen and facility services solutions, which entails multiple synergies for supply chain optimisation. However, these synergies needed to be explored.

The client’s business was defined by a high degree of complexity across:

  1. Product groups
  2. Different order types
  3. Level of customisation
  4. Customer segments.

Furthermore, it was defined by customers with high requirements for faster lead times but also a higher level of product specialisation.

The scope of the project was to define the future end-to-end supply chain setup in order to cater for the future differentiated customer supply chain requirements.

The impact: A clear definition of the customer segmentation model for differentiated supply chain service offerings

The project resulted in a clear definition of the customer segmentation model for differentiated supply chain service offerings.

It also defined recommendations for the future warehouse and distribution network design for both medium-term and long-term options with identified double-digit yearly cost savings.

The project identified end-to-end lead time drivers and how they could be reduced and implemented. Furthermore, it provided an additional list of group product portfolio alignment and standardisation strategy and prerequisite projects.
