The project: Evaluating the current manufacturing and warehouse footprint to secure sufficient capacity and effectiveness

A global textile designer was expecting significant growth, mainly within their current customer segments and product portfolio. To meet future global demand, the current manufacturing and warehouse footprint had to be evaluated to secure sufficient capacity and effectiveness.

The main drivers of the project were:

  • Lack of capacity in all warehouses.
  • Expiry of lease contracts as well as potential termination of occasional lease.
  • The project scope included distribution footprint, high-level warehouse layout and where to stock what.

The impact: Demand projections for future warehouse capacity

The project resulted in demand projections for future warehouse capacity and identified new warehouse locations as well as created a business case and transformation plan.

It reduced the number of warehouse locations from three to two with yearly cost savings of 14.2% through automation and use of low-cost country locations.

The project also resulted in the design of a new warehouse layout and an assessment of automation equipment across operations.
